Computer Instruction: Meet My New Teacher Hal
Computers in the computer based instruction program are the medium of instruction like most teachers are. Students can interact with the computer screen as they do with their teachers. The computer screen is designed in such a way so as to become a medium of instruction to the persons using it. A single computer instruction program is brief and is related to only one type of instruction. However many programs related to each other can provide instructions for a complete course. Computer based instruction is a new medium and that is why it will take time to learn. These computer instruction programs are designed by people who have had a lot of experience, at least 20 years, in the programming field. The work of computers instruction began in the University of Illinois. The computers used had a graphics screen with double the number of pixels of a normal computer and touch screen. These computers could work on thousands of hours of use by students per week. The programs of computer based instructions are generally algorithmic languages like assembly languages, BASIC and PASCAL because they were much simpler and faster. The programs are designed to receive inputs from the student and on the basis of that the display changes. The programs are mainly written for these displays. The domain, computer medium and students are kept in mind before a computer instruction program is prepared. Even though the programs are algorithmic in nature the way in which they are prepared makes them charming and clear and gives them a freedom of interaction. There have been many discussions on the use of computer instructions in the field of education. Computer instruction can be effective in many ways. Computers have been able to create a niche for themselves in classrooms although the computer based instruction are not so popular. Computer instruction can be used to improve reading and comprehension skills as well as writing skills. This is one example of the use of computer instruction. Computer instruction can be applied to the different areas of the curriculum. They can use it for math, science, literature or even social studies. The program should include student written, teacher written and commercially authored materials. Learners should also be able to experiment with the text to suit them when using computer instruction for reading and comprehension skills. A lot of narrative material should also be provided to these students. Teachers should not be focused on teaching the normal computer course but should use computers even for giving instructions in the classrooms. Even though there have not been much research on the effectiveness of computer instruction but students have easily been able to use a good computer instruction for thousands of hours. |
